Hello again, back on vacation.
As you know, we have been in the Mediterranean Alps in Jausiers, a French town about a hundred and ninety miles from Nice to Cuneo, and in Italy.
The area was really beautiful. The water flowed abundantly everywhere, everything was green, grew many varieties of flowers, marmots sported by most of the valleys and the river, l'Ubaye, ran hard to the lake of Serre Ponçon that dammed waters . As one would expect in a rural area, was kind and common lifestyle that invites relaxation, which we needed. Finally, the cuisine, with hundreds of cheeses, wines and sausages, did not help hold the line, but hey, it was a week and had to "forget the hustle and bustle" of diets and bikinis, lol.
trips back and forth have been long, almost 1,400 kms by road, so we have done in two stages. That way we spent the night in Roses, where my children came to bathe in the beach, and I can say is great to go with young children does not cover as many meters. Not so in Calella, where we rested around with beaches sudden and profound.
But the beating of the trip to Jausiers soon forgotten. We had two trips longer than others. One of them went to Nice and Monaco on the Riviera. The color is real, the water is very blue, crystal clear, super rocky beaches. Nice traveled, we liked a lot with its palaces, churches, streets and commercial maritime, although gave us the impression of being an expensive city. Surprisingly, in Monaco, lowest prices seemed to us that in Nice. Here we met the Casino, the Palace, the Cathedral, the Auditorium and the Oceanographic though, unfortunately, the latter did not have time to meet him inside, and had to return before nightfall, passing the harbor among the highest mountains Europe, to just over 2800 meters. Long went to Cuneo, a city very elegant and where we decided to travel to Turin, we liked the city but the noise did not stop to enjoy the historic center. The return was an ordeal. We broke down the browser and forth with emergency maps purchased at a kiosk in Turin, which came just French roads indicated. Just when we thought we were close, because on the map so it seemed, decided to stop for dinner and in France. We had a gigantic raclette "Claude's Tavern", probably built by himself, cause that was so decorated nails, but that's another story. The point is that we had about 80 kms but has been the longest of my life. Not a single sign indicating where we should go, just lights and worst people, works and detours. Nothing could be seen, only heard the rivers run we thought we were on roads with gullies. The map gave us almost no information and guided us all the sense of direction, knowing where we came from, and as the full moon was, to where we had to go. Luckily we never once lost but the road to pass the port of Vars, were becoming increasingly close, with fewer people and the worst final round. If we talk about fifty miles, we need to talk more two hours. When we reached the apartment, I felt exhausted.
The remaining trips were much more relaxed. We have met the people of Valle de l'Ubaye and are really nice. In most towns, there are plenty of Mexican style houses, as immigration from this area was largely to that country. We have seen and visited numerous military fortifications, some very old, who have defended the story along the passage between the two countries. Some, even today, are military buildings that could potentially be used.
